The Phenomenal Handclap Band

By Cili in Music

Co-incidentally I discovered this band whilst searching for “The xx” another band. (there will be a future blog post about them or maybe not) The Phenomenal Handclap Band (PHB) is a tightly knit group of musicians and artists from Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. The band started to take shape when DJ and production partners Daniel [...]

She’s always a woman – Fyfe Dangerfield

By Cili in Advertising, Music

Here is another advert from John Lewis. The song is “She’s always a woman” (originally by Billy Joel) a cover version by Fyfe Dangerfield, and one of his tracks on his new album ‘Fly Yellow Moon’ Such a beautiful song, don’t like the overall image of ”the woman” in the advert, it’s like she has [...]

Paolo Nutini

By Cili in Music

Just made a recent discovery and his name is Paolo Nutini. He’s young and good looking (if I might add), and he has some songs which I hate, and there are some songs which I love. A song I really enjoy from his album – New Shoes and… heard another song from Nutini named – [...]

Mux Mool

By Cili in Alternative, Music

“I think beat-making is really the study of every kind of music,” says Brian Lindgren, the artist known as Mux Mool who has just released a new album, Skulltaste. Quoting Ghostly International (Mool’s record label) Skulltaste is an old-fashioned epic, and its diversity—both track-to-track and within the songs themselves—is hard to measure. Lindgren’s taste roams [...]

The song Sweet Disposition, that was featured earlier last month, is quiet the popular song these days — among ad agencies, at least. It has so far been featured in ads for Chrysler, Rhapsody, the movie 500 Days of Summer, and most recently Diet Coke. As if that weren’t enough, it has also been used in official conjunction [...]

Sweet Child of Mine

By Cili in Acoustic, Advertising, Music

Thinkbox’s Nov/Dec Awards for TV ads stated that John Lewis’ ‘The feeling’ was the 3rd best ad. I remember seeing it in christmas and it really captured the feeling, especially with its very gentle version of Sweet Child of Mine (a rock classic by Guns’n’Roses) by Taken by Trees. Enjoy!

Avril Lavigne

By Cili in Music, Rock, Soundtrack

Something new revealed from ‘Alice in Wonderland’, to be released 5th March 2010 (London)… wait for it… a little bit longer… oh it’s the soundtrack! (which happens to be the first single of Avril’s fourth album) Please don’t get too excited. In my opinion it’s more of a Taylor Swift/Miley Cyrus song, and saying this I hope,  I really [...]
