The first blog post is always a special one
So it had to be about Morcheeba, which happens to be my all-time favourite band. This British act (the Godfrey brothers; Paul and Ross, and vocalist Skye Edwards) is well known for it’s trip hop beats and psychedelic sounds, but it also draws inspiration from blues, rhythm, rock and pop.
They are mostly known for the hit single ‘Rome Wasn’t Built In a Day’; their most commercial song to date. However, the Morcheeba experience is more than just some catchy song with a brassy arrangement that screams 50s jive, jazz and blues. The key word here is ambiance.
Blindfold
In 2003, the Godfrey brothers dismissed Skye Edwards from the band (citing musical and personal differences), and that my friends, was the most stupid thing they ever did… and their post-skye work sucked a little… Musically the tracks were fine, but the vocals missed the finesse Miss Edwards brings to the table…
And now, after 7 years of absence, Morcheeba go back to their winning formula *ecstatic grin* Skye, Paul and Ross reunited together and have completed their 7th studio album: Blood Like Lemonade.
This is their latest single Even Though… enjoy ^^
Great first post Jan!
looking forward for more
