Beirut

The music by this (American) band combines elements of Eastern European and Balkan folk with Western pop music, and of course you cannot miss the indie-rock sounds…  I like it!!  Initially, it was a solo musical project by Zachary Francis Condon,  but in 2006 he recruited some friends to play with him in New York after which Beirut was born.

Nantes forms part of their second album The Flying Club Cup -each song on the album is intended to evoke a different French city.  Part of the lyrics are in actual fact in French.

I like the fact that the band is rather experimental when it comes to musical instruments --  consisting of french horns, euphoniums, the accordion, the organ etc.

There s a lot of intimacy in their music, which probably explains why  i find them rather appealing
